Back in 1991 Tamiya released a very nice little accessory set, WWII German Soldier with Bicycle (#94005). The set includes a standing rider. This was one of Tamiya's bagged kits. Then in 2000 Tamiya updated the set with with two new soldier figures, German Soldiers with Bicycles (#35240), one soldier is actually riding a bicycle. The set includes two #94005 bicycle sprues and the two new soldiers.

With the release of set #35240, Aber also released a very impressive photo-etch (PE) set (#35 097)  to detail two bicycles.

Since I also build military models, I have lots of PE waiting to be added to various models. Some of the sets are quite daunting so I though this small kit was a good way to get familiar with modifying kit parts and applying PE. 

Although the PE set is for #35240, I decided to built one of my #94005 kits that I bought several years ago.
